Tips for Success in Courses
5 tips to help you be successful
- Check your Rowan email and Canvas portal for important information every day.
- You are responsible for attending every scheduled class session, whether held in-person or remotely, at the time listed on your course schedule. Always read your email frequently, at least once per day, preferably much more. Follow up on important action items immediately.
- Create a designated study space and keep it organized.

- If you need a place on campus: students are welcome in any public spaces in open buildings (such as the Student Center (check hours), Campbell Library (check hours), and academic buildings such as Science, Rowan, Engineering, Business, James, Savitz, etc. There are also designated classrooms for use during the buildings’ open hours, generally 7 am - 11 pm: Bozorth 107, Bozorth 108, Bunce 105, Esby 111, James 1112, James 2094, Robinson 103, Robinson 204, Savitz 217, Victoria 204 (campus map). Students need to provide their own laptop or other device in these rooms; headsets/earphones and webcams are encouraged. Computer labs and printing are available.

If I am struggling academically in my classes, are there resources I can connect with?
How do I contact my Academic Advisor?
Your academic advisor will be available to help you in person, or via phone or online appointments. You can schedule an advising appointment with your advisor through the Rowan Success Network. If you are unable to schedule through RSN and/or you need additional assistance, please contact the following centers:
- University Advising Center (UAC): call 856-256-4459 and leave a message or email advise@rowan.edu.
- College of Education Advising Center (CEAC): call 856-256-4420 and leave a message or email advise@rowan.edu.
- Rowan Global Office of Advising & Student Information Services (OASIS): all graduate, post-bac, certificate, online or Camden degree completion, and 3+1 students may call 856-256-5435 or email globalstudent@rowan.edu.
If I am a student with disabilities, how will I receive online accommodations?
If you are a student with a disability, please contact the office of Accessibility Services. Accessibility Services will also be working to assist faculty who need assistance providing access and accommodations for our students with disabilities. Working together, we can ensure that all students with disabilities have equal access to in person and online learning. Will the Writing Center be offering tutoring services?
Yes. The Rowan Writing Center will be providing online tutoring throughout the the Fall semester using our current platform, WCOnline. http://www.rowanwritingcenter.com/
The Rowan Writing Center offers real time support (video/audio tutoring), drop-off support (attach your paper and get feedback in 24 hours), and graduate thesis and dissertation support (feedback in 3-5 days). Our tutors will work with you to breakdown assignments, brainstorm topics, find resources, organize your thoughts, draft and revise your papers, and check grammar and citations.

Are The Office of Career Advancement counselors available for appointments?
The Office of Career Advancement is here to help. Students are encouraged to schedule appointments Rowan Success Network or call 856-256-4456. Alumni should call 856-256-4456 for an appointment. In addition to scheduling individual appointments with career counselor, the OCA is offering a variety of career workshops that are interactive and customized to address attendee’s needs. Who do I speak to if I am a transfer student and have questions?
Please contact transferhelp@rowan.edu with any questions. Several offices monitor and answer students questions (University Transfer Services, Admissions, Registrar, Orientation and Financial Aid).
Students may schedule an appointment via RSN with Mayra Arroyo, Coordinator, University Transfer Services. Mayra can be contacted directly at arroyo@rowan.edu.

Are Library Resources available?
Campbell Library is open for studying, using desktop computers, and picking up books.
Campbell Library has reopened with modified services and hours. Access is limited to Rowan students, faculty, and staff with Rowan ID. Our schedule is subject to change. Hours have been adjusted to allow for additional cleaning time overnight.

Is the Wellness Center open for appointments?
The Wellness Center asks that all appointments are made by calling the office at 856-256-4333.

Many campus departments continue to offer opportunities to focus on well-being through Rowan Thrive. Continue to visit rowan.edu/thrive and follow social media accounts such as Campus Rec (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) and Healthy Campus Initiatives (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
Additionally, Rowan offers a digital platform of tools and materials called TAO to help you conquer day-to-day struggles around general stressors. Help is available! If you have a concern that is impacting your ability to succeed, you can request help via the Rowan Success Network, and a staff member will assist you.
You can request help by logging into your RSN account and clicking the Request Help link in the left hand menu. Click the Help Me button to submit a request for help.
