Field Experience in Human Services
- The BA in Human Services requires students to complete three field placements.
- The courses for this requirement are only offered in certain semesters and must be completed in sequence:
- Fall semester - Applied Ethics in Human Services
- Spring semester - Field Experience I
- Fall semester - Field Experience II
- Spring semester - Field Experience III
- Students are encouraged to start their placement search early.
- Fall Field Experience - students should begin the application process in May
- Spring Field Experience - students should begin the application process in October
- Students are encouraged to utilize the services of the Center for Professional Success and the Office of Career Advancement for assistance in preparing for and finding their fieldwork experience placement.
- Check out PROFSJobs, our online job search site.
- Use Google! Make a list of potential placement sites based on your online research. Once you have a list of agencies that you are interested in, cold call them with your resume and a cover letter explaining what you are looking for in an internship and asking if you can meet with them. Keep in mind that many internships aren’t posted – a lot of agencies rely on people coming to them.
