OASIS Mission Statement
The Office of Advising and Student Information Services is dedicated to fostering the success of a diverse population of "new majority" adult and nontraditional students as they progress through individualized, accessible, and affordable pathways to certificate and degree completion. We support and encourage our students’ engagement with the Rowan community, as well as their realization of longstanding academic, career, and personal goals.
- We are available to meet with you prior to each registration period to discuss your goals and to review your plans for completing your degree.
- We are responsible for connecting you with University resources, as needed.
- We are advocates for the needs of all new majority learners, within the University and beyond.

Questions You Might Have
How do I work with an academic advisor?
- Keep in mind that advisors are here to advise; ultimately, however, you are responsible for your own educational, financial, and personal decisions
- Come to our meetings prepared with ideas for courses, questions, or concerns that you might have so that we can best help you
- Respond to our emails and communications as quickly as possible
- Let us know when you are struggling or need help and tell us when things are going well
How do I understand the course requirements and financial commitment of my program?
- You can familiarize yourself with your program requirements using DegreeWorks and your department’s website
- We can work together to develop a timeline and plan for graduation depending on your academic requirements and outside commitments
- Utilize student tools ( DegreeWorks, Section Tally) to prepare and register for courses as soon as possible to get your preferred courses and sections
- Review the cost of your degree and seek assistance when financial concerns arise
What other resources are available to me at Rowan?
- Seek out support by connecting with University resources
- Explore valuable leadership and professional experiences by engaging with the Office of Career Advancement as well as your academic department
- Connect to the Rowan community by engaging with your peers (RowanCONNECT and ProfLink)
Students can find their Advisor’s contact information on the OASIS Staff Directory (including biographies, contact information and appointment links). Use the search function to identify your program and campus.
Advising Appointments:
Make an Appointment in RSN, click on the Scheduling link in your advisor’s email signature, or through the OASIS Staff Directory.- If you are having trouble finding a time that works for your schedule, please reach out - we'll try to make something work, either in person, by phone, or online.
- Please plan to hold your appointment at an appropriate time and place with access to a computer and the ability to have a personal conversation.
- Please feel free to bring your children to your appointment if necessary.
We also offer virtual drop-in hours on Wednesdays from 12 - 1 PM each week.

Email Communication
- Utilize your Rowan email including your name and banner ID (ie 916XXXX)
- Please include what the issue or concern that you are having is and any important details for us to note, this will allow us to better assist you in our response
- You can expect a reply within 2 business days
Learn Your Degree Requirements
- DegreeWorks is Rowan University's system used by students and advisors to review degree requirements and remaining coursework.
- Access from Self-Service Banner on the Students tab, select Student Records, then DegreeWorks
- For more information about DegreeWorks, please view these training videos.
- Transfer students are encouraged to review their accepted transfer credits
- Go to Self-Service Banner, select Student and Financial Aid, click Student Record, followed by Academic Transcript
- Any posted transfer credit will appear at the top of your transcript
- There are additional ways to earn credits outside of Rowan
- Go to Self-Service Banner, select Student and Financial Aid, click Student Record, followed by Academic Transcript
- Map out a timeline for completion of all requirements
- Work with your advisor to create a plan of study to complete your degree
- Consider:
- Time allowed per semester with outside commitments
- When you would ideally like to complete your degree
- Pre-requisites and fall/spring only offerings with your academic advisor
- Financial implications of number of credits per semester
Graduation Requirements and Information
- Students must complete at least 120 credits of coursework that applies to their Rowan University degree
- Students must have an overall/cumulative G.P.A. of at least 2.0. (Only Rowan University courses count toward the G.P.A.)
- A minimum of 30 credits of coursework must be completed at/through Rowan University
- Only grades of “D-” or above may apply to graduation requirements (some programs may set higher minimums)
- Students must apply for graduation and should do so for the term in which they will complete all program requirements (take their last required course)

Thinking about Graduate School? Here are some tips and resources to help you get started:
- Start with an internet search. Find programs and schools of interest and start reading through their program details. Get connected with an admissions counselor and start asking questions about their programs.
- Look through a list of Rowan’s graduate programs and
- Consider taking a graduate course during your undergraduate program through the Senior Privilege Program
- Professional Associations offer great advice, including lists of accredited programs.
- Learn about the application process and start to gather your materials.
