SOAR
Students Organized to Affirm Recovery (SOAR)
In collaboration with the Wellness Center and the Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine, our mission is to not only provide connections and resources to students struggling with substance use but also to expand on campus-wide education for students when it comes to alcohol and other drugs. We want to ensure students can make informed choices and make decisions for themselves on what is best for their own academic journey and overall well-being within a supportive and inclusive community.

Meet the Team
Drew Davenport, SOAR Navigator
Hello! My name is Drew and I work here in Academic Support Programs at Rowan University as an Academic Support Coordinator. I also work alongside my colleague, Kristen Miranda, to run the SOAR program here at the University. I am a proud Rowan graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. I am an avid sports fan and was a member of the Club Baseball team and many other intramural sports during my undergraduate work at Rowan. After my 4 years at Rowan, I worked for several years in the public school setting with students ranging in age from kindergarten to high school. I obtained my Master's Degree in Education, School Counseling from Wilmington University and became a certified New Jersey School Counselor. During my time at Wilmington, I received the College of Education Scholarship Award and spent two full semesters working within the guidance department of local schools. My background in school-based counseling helped me acquire key skills involving social-emotional learning, growth mindset techniques, and group and individual counseling strategies. I work to assist students successfully navigate their academic journey by making plans, setting goals, and making connections that work for them through a truly holistic approach to wellbeing. I strive to help individuals reach their goals and would be more than happy to meet with you to discuss your own academic journey!
