B.A. in Liberal Studies Program Guide
In addition, currently enrolled students can view their degree requirements and remaining coursework in DegreeWorks. You can access DegreeWorks from Self-Service Banner. On the Students tab, select Student Records, then DegreeWorks (Responsive). For more information about DegreeWorks, please view these training videos.
We strongly recommend that all students meet with their Academic Advisor once per semester. You can schedule a time to meet using the RSN or reach out to your advisor by email.
Experiential Learning Requirement
All Liberal Studies students are required to complete an experiential learning experience, such as an internship or research experience.
You can learn more about pathways to credit and student resources from the CHSS Center for Professional Success.
Courses that offer Experiential Learning credit include:
- INTR 20390 Interdisciplinary Case Studies in the Liberal Arts
- INTR 20395 Experiential Learning in the Humanities and Social Sciences
- INTR 20399 Internship in Applied Liberal Arts

Program Specific Requirements - Liberal Studies
- Students must complete an Experiential Learning requirement. Students can choose from a bank of course options that satisfy this requirement from various departments in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS). Online options include:
- INTR 20395 Experiential Learning in the Humanities & Social Sciences, INTR 20399 Internship in Applied Liberal Arts, and LAWJ 05356 Criminal Justice Internship
Rowan University Graduation Requirements
- Students must complete at least 120 s.h. (semester hours) of coursework that applies to their Rowan University degree
- Students must have an overall/cum. G.P.A. of at least 2.0. (Only Rowan University courses count toward the G.P.A.)
- A minimum of 30 s.h. of coursework must be completed at/through Rowan University
- Only grades of “D-” or above may apply to graduation requirements (some programs may set higher minimums)
- Students must apply for graduation and should do so for the term in which they will complete all program requirements.
