Tips From Your Advisor

Career, Graduate School and Internship Information

  • Interested in gaining experience? While it’s not required for your major, an internship, field work, or research can be a great way to build your resume and try out different career paths. Search for internships, part-time, and full-time jobs on Profs Jobs or through the Office of Career Advancement’s Career Fair Calendar.   You can learn more about current Psychology Department research labs here.
  • If you are considering graduate school, check out the Rowan Master’s Degree catalog.   We recommend attending a virtual Information Session to learn more about graduate school.
  • Be proactive. Applying to graduate school takes time. Here are some resources on the process.
  • Talk to your Academic Advisor about Senior Privilege, which allows students to take a Graduate-level course as part of their senior year undergraduate coursework.
  • While a 2.0 GPA is the minimum requirement for graduation, graduate schools are looking for 3.2 GPA or higher.
  • Common career paths for Psychology graduates include counseling settings, human resources, education, applied behavior analysis, sales, and law enforcement.  See more information about Psychology careers, graduate schools, and internships here.

  • You can only repeat a course once without permission from the department
  • Flat rate tuition is 12 -17 credits (you pay the same amount for 4 courses or 5 courses)
  • The Psychology program requires a 2.0 average in all Psychology major courses

Program Specific Graduation Requirements - Psychology 

  • Psychology of Scientific Thinking, Statistics in Psychology and Research Methods in Psychology is a three-semester sequence and must be taken in that order

Rowan University Graduation Requirements  

  • Students must complete at least 120 s.h. (semester hours) of coursework that applies to their Rowan University degree 
  • Students must have an overall/cum. G.P.A. of at least 2.0. (Only Rowan University courses count toward the G.P.A.)  
  • A minimum of 30 s.h. of coursework must be completed at/through Rowan University  
  • Only grades of “D-” or above may apply to graduation requirements (some programs may set higher minimums)  
  • Students must apply for graduation and should do so for the term in which they will complete all program requirements
