Biography

Laurie Baker (pronouns: she/her/hers) is the Director of the Office of Advising and Student Information Services (OASIS); she also advises juniors and seniors in the B.A. in Human Services program at the Camden campus and is the Rowan@Home coordinator for freshmen who are completing their first year of coursework entirely online.

A former editor and college writing instructor, Laurie began her academic advising career after completing a B.A. in English at Bucknell University and a M.S. Ed. in Higher Education Management at the University of Pennsylvania.  Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in the inaugural cohort of the Leadership in Academic Advising program at Kansas State University, where her research is focused on the role of academic advisors in fostering student financial literacy and well-being.  When not in the office or immersed in coursework, Laurie enjoys exploring Philadelphia-area restaurants, traveling, writing, yoga, and spending time with her partner and their daughter.
