Full Withdrawals for COVID-19
Full Withdrawals for COVID-19
Full Withdrawals Due to the National Health Emergency
Financial aid is disbursed at the beginning of the semester with the expectation that you will successfully complete your courses and earn the financial aid paid on your behalf. When you do not successfully complete the semester, the financial aid office must determine how much financial aid you have earned. Unearned financial aid must be returned to the U.S. Department of Education and can result in a balance due to Rowan University that may have been previously covered by financial aid.
In response to the ongoing national health emergency, the U.S. Department of Education has issued guidance that allows federal student and parent PLUS loan amounts borrowed for the semesters covered under the national health emergency to be forgiven under certain circumstances. In addition, if the student received a Federal Pell Grant during this same semester, the amount will be excluded from the student’s lifetime limit.
Steps to Take Advantage of this Provision
Determine if you are considered a "full withdrawal".
You are considered to have withdrawn from an enrollment term if you fail to earn any academic credit during the term - either all F’s, W’s, NC, or a combination of these.
If you earned any passing grades during a term (a grade of D- or higher), you are not considered to have fully withdrawn.
Download and Complete the "Student Withdrawal Attestation".
If you did not successfully complete your coursework for one of the terms covered under the national health emergency, you would have been contacted by the Financial Aid Office requesting that you submit to us a "Student Withdrawal Attestation". This form is required to attest to the reason you did not complete the affected term at Rowan University.
Please download the form(s) below.
Submit Your Completed Form
Please upload a separate form for each of the affected terms. If you are unable to upload the forms to our secure portal for any reason, please email them to us at financialaid@rowan.edu immediately. The deadline is September 20, 2021. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Upload Completed Form(s)If you go into your portal and do not see a place to upload this form, you may not have been identified as an eligible student to take advantage of this provision. Please contact our office if you have any questions. Remember, if you earned any credits (D- or higher) in either the Fall 2020 or Spring 2021 terms, you are NOT eligible.
