Basic Eligibility
The Department of Education has outlined basic eligibility requirements to receive federal financial aid.
Eligible Students Must:
- Be a US citizen or eligible noncitizen. Read more »
- Students who are not US citizens or eligible non-citizens may be eligible for New Jersey state financial aid. Read more »
- Have a valid Social Security number
- Be registered with the Selective Service (males only, must have registered between 18-25). Read more »
- Be accepted and enrolled in a degree-seeking program (not enrolled as a visiting or non-matriculated student).
- Be enrolled at least half-time (for the Direct Loan program). Read more »
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress. Read more »
- Have a high school diploma, or recognized equivalent
- Not be in default on a Title IV loan. Read more »
