Satisfactory Academic Progress
In order to receive financial aid, students must meet the minimum Federal standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). The standards for Satisfactory Academic Progress for financial aid purposes are different from the academic requirements of the University. In some instances, students experiencing academic difficulty may find that, while they are permitted to remain in school, they may not receive financial aid until they achieve the minimum standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress. SAP standards apply to all terms you attended regardless of whether or not you received financial aid.

NOTE: Financial Aid Probation is not the same as Academic Probation. However, some students may attain both statuses simultaneously. Students in academic probation must follow the prescribed appeal process for academic probation from your department even if they have been granted financial aid probation.
How can I get funding when my aid has been denied?
Meeting the minimum standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress are requirements for students to get financial aid. As you will see on these pages, it is possible to appeal the loss of your financial aid. If your appeal is not approved, or you were on an academic plan/probation and failed to meet the minimum standards and are now denied aid, there are still options for getting funding for school.- You can go on a payment plan and pay your balance out-of-pocket. We realize this is not a realistic option for the majority of students.
