Moving During the Semester
RLUH observes Fall and Spring Move-In/Move-Out processes. However, some students may join the residential community or complete a room change or room swap after the semester has begun. If you receive a housing assignment update after the start of the term, the information below outlines the steps for moving into a new space and/or vacating a previous assignment.Mid-Year Moving Procedures

Important Considerations & FAQs
If I am moving out, how long will I have to complete my move?
Students have 48 hours to vacate their space. Access to your assigned hall will deactive after that time.
Are bins or staff available to assist with my move?
Unfortunately, we do not have moving bins or staff/volunteers available after the fall/spring move in/out periods. However, depending on availability, we may be able to lend you a hand-truck for assistance. Please contact our office if you feel that you need to borrow one.
Are there potential penalties that may be applied to me in this process?
-
Failure to Vacate Notification: If you fail to vacate your assignment by the stated deadline, it may result in your items being considered abandoned and disposed of. Additionally, you will be charged with Failure to Vacate Notice through our campus judicial system with a fee of at least $150.
-
Damage Charges: All residential spaces will be inspected upon checkout. Any damages found beyond normal wear and tear which were not pre-existing or documented on your original room condition report during your checkout inspection will result in charges added to your student account.
-
Non-Returned Key: If your key is not returned, you will be charged for a lock change. If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at housingquestions@rowan.edu.
What if I need to move after hours?
Unfortunately our main office is closed on weekends so we will not have staff available to assist with your check in/out. You will need to contact the on-call staff for your building (phone numbers are posted on the front door of each hall) or Public Safety (856-259-4922).
I moved out/off-campus; when will my bill be adjusted?
Once we verify that a student has officially vacated their space and turned in their key (if applicable), we will cancel out the assignment. Your student billing will update on your account within 1 hour of the cancellation.
