Community Assistants
Community Assistants (CAs) are undergraduate student staff who live on-campus to assist students with acclimating to the university, building a positive community and navigating interpersonal concerns. CAs also assist with roommate mediation, crisis response, and policy enforcement. The CA should be your first contact for situations such as: roommate conflicts, getting involved in your community, identifying campus resources, and other residential assistance. CAs live in every community across campus. Students can reach their CA throughout the day or the CA on duty every night from 8:00 pm – 7:00 am; the CA on duty can be reached by calling the duty phone for your building, which is posted around the hall.
The CA position is for one academic year. CAs receive a furnished, single-bedroom in an assigned residence hall or apartment, a campus meal plan providing 14 meals a week when classes are in session, and a $1,000 stipend for the academic year ($500 per semester), disbursed on a bi-weekly basis. CAs are assigned and required to live in their designated residence hall or apartment community.
Please note that all candidates are subject to the following:
- An academic screening to ensure that their semester and cumulative GPA is a 2.5 or above
- A Community Standards screening to ensure that they are not on an active Conduct status by the time of employment
- Must be a full-time undergraduate matriculated student (sophomore standing or above).
- If you are a Rowan Choice student at the time of application, you must be fully transferred as a matriculated Rowan University student prior to the start of employment.
- If you have any special housing accommodation needs related to a disability or other condition, those need to be submitted to the Office of Accessibility Services, by Friday, January 30, to be taken into consideration for placement during this process.
