Course Modalities

Below is a summary of course modalities at Rowan University. Guidance is provided regarding Section Tally and Banner, for how these modalities will appear for registration purposes.  Note that synchronous refers to scheduled times with the instructor that can occur either in person or remotely (e.g. Zoom, Webex) as described below:

Face to Face (F2F)

Courses are offered in a face-to-face, fully synchronous, non-hybrid setting.

Section Tally / Registration Portal will indicate the following:

• Session = “Day” or “Evening” 
• Campus Location and Times provided 

Hybrid 

At least 50% of the course is F2F with remaining components being a blend of asynchronous online or synchronous remote instruction.

Section Tally / Registration Portal will indicate the following:

• Session = “Hybrid” 
• Campus Location provided for in person meetings
• Meeting Time provided for all synchronous components

Online Blended

Online with a blend of asynchronous learning and between 30%-70% synchronous remote instruction.

Section Tally / Registration Portal will indicate the following:

• Session = “Online” 
• Campus Location = “Remote”
• Meeting Time provided for synchronous (remote) components

Online

100% asynchronous.

Section Tally / Registration Portal will indicate the following:

• Session = “Online” 
• Campus Location = Online
• No Meeting Time listed as all work is asynchronous
