RU Writing Drop-in Sessions Spring 2026
Looking to build a steady writing habit? Join the Faculty Center’s spring drop-in sessions — two weekly opportunities for structured, focused time on your projects.
Days, Times, Locations:
- Mondays & Wednesdays (January 21st – May 6th, 2026, 10:00-12:00)
- Zoom (link will be sent to registrants)
All Rowan faculty, librarians, and graduate students are invited to join these 2-hour, virtual sessions devoted to protected writing time.

The Faculty Center is excited to convene interested Rowan faculty and graduate students for participation in the NCFDD’s 14-Day Faculty Writing Challenge.
- February 16 - March 1, 2026 (Register by February 6, 2026!)
Rowan has an institutional membership in the NCFDD, so there is no cost to participate. NCFDD has designed this challenge to allow you “to experiment with daily writing, online community, and supportive accountability,” as well as to meet some of your writing goals this semester.
By signing up, you’ll be committing to writing for at least 30 minutes every day, logging your progress in their online community platform, and supporting other writers in the challenge along the way. Go to NCFDD to learn more and register.

- First you’ll need to activate your institutional membership (if you haven’t already). Here’s how:
- Go to the NCFDD Institutional Membership website.
- Select “Rowan University” from the drop down menu.
- Click “Activate Account” and register with your Rowan email address.
- Then, register on this page.
- Register for the Faculty Center's Local Writing Challenge Groups for additional local community support & accountability (& snacks!)
- Spring Challenge

Spring Break Writing Retreat 2026
The Provost’s Office and Faculty Center invite all full-time faculty and librarians to consider applying for the 2026 Spring Break Writing Retreat.
The purpose of this retreat is to provide faculty and librarians with expectations for producing scholarly and creative activity with space, time, and sustenance as they work on a scholarly or creative project.
The retreat will be held during spring break in 3 different timeframes (2 days, 3 days, and 5 days).
Space is limited and priority will be given to tenure-track (untenured) faculty and librarians, but all full-time faculty are welcome and encouraged to apply.
Dates:
- Monday, March 16th - Friday, March 20th
Location: Glassboro Campus
Day options:
- 5 days (MTWRF, 3/16 to 3/20)
- 3 days (MTW, 3/16 to 3/18)
- 2 days (RF, 3/19 and 3/20)
Goals for Faculty:
- Provide collegial accountability for writing/research/creative activity time.
- Generate community and a shared, supportive experience.
- Create academic networks.
What’s in it for you:

- Opportunities for camaraderie with colleagues from across the campus
- Safe spaces to discuss the successes and challenges and also celebrate your writing, research, and creative activities
- A private study room in the Campbell Library for each participant

What’s asked of you:
- Participants must agree to engage in the full 6.5 hours each day of the retreat, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (including morning goal sharing; 45-minute group lunch; and 4.5 hours of writing with small breaks) and to step away from other commitments during that time.
- Applicants must provide project title and description and specific goals for scholarly work during the retreat with at least one deliverable (e.g., lit review, manuscript, data analysis, grant proposal, creative work)

- Applications will close on Monday, February 2nd at 11:59 PM.
- Decisions will be made and notifications sent out on or before February 9th.
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
SoTL is a systematic process focused on the active intellectual & emotional inquiry into teaching and learning. SoTL investigates the relationship between teaching & learning with the goal of improving student learning. The aim of SoTL isn’t only to determine “what works” in the classroom, but also to consider the educators, learners, and context of the learning. SoTL includes the intentional communication of results to contribute to the larger knowledge base.
