New Faculty
Each year the Faculty Center holds a New Faculty Orientation for all new fulltime faculty and librarians. This year we are excited to be hosting a fully redesigned New Faculty Orientation (NFO). We have redesigned the NFO to:
- Make the events (e.g., introductions to campus resources and units, information sessions, and professional development) more accessible to faculty from across the globe as they make their relocation plans.
- Provide essential information and professional development opportunities before new faculty arrive on Rowan campuses.
- Provide a yearlong program of just-in-time events that will bring new faculty together with units from across campus to network, dialogue, share resources, and problem solve.
- Encourage collegiality and collaboration among cohorts of new faculty throughout the year.
NFO Events Overview
Summer 2024
Though we will begin reaching out to new faculty in June to help them with things like Banner IDs, NetIDs, pensions and benefits, and the campuses and surrounding communities, we will launch formal programming in July. The virtual, synchronous summer sessions will welcome faculty to Rowan and provide them with information and supports they will need prior to arriving at Rowan. These sessions will be recorded and shared via the Canvas course we have created for the new cohort of faculty so that they can access the resources wherever and whenever they choose.
Provost’s Brunch for New Faculty
This annual invitation-only event serves as the formal introduction and welcoming of new faculty to Rowan. Attendees include the President, Provost, Deans, and Administrators from across Rowan’s campuses. This year’s event will be held on Friday, September 13th in the Eynon Ballroom on the Glassboro Campus.
Academic Year 2024
Throughout the Fall and Spring semesters, we will be hosting events where new faculty can come together to engage in just-in-time professional development and to network. Most of these events will be held on Friday mornings in James Hall on the Glassboro Campus.
