General Tips for Using Tools
Communication
  • Remind - is a popular group texting app with students
  • Groupme - is another popular group texting app
  • Free Conference Call - allows you to use your phone for conference calling
  • Slack - a collaboration tool, popular with the College of Engineering
  • WeChat - Chat instantly via voice, text, photo or video messages and can Use the walkie-talkie mode with up to 40 friends.
  • Twitter - create a hashtag for discussion, updates on on-going projects, etc.
  • Facebook - create a class page
  • Skype - free video calling up to 100 people
Class Meetings
  • Google Meet - video conferencing tool

Assignment Ideas
  • Create an assignment on material that would have been covered that requires students to be creative
  • Give students a partially started concept map on the material for students to complete. 
  • Collaboration tools to brainstorm, plan, share thoughts, etc.
    • Padlet - Share text, photos, documents, web links, video, and music
    • Jamboard - Drop images, add notes, and pull assets directly from the web while collaborating with team members from anywhere

  • Use Twitter to create a hashtag for discussion, updates on on-going projects, etc.
  • Create a VoiceThread to discuss images, videos & documents asynchronously

  • Presentation tools
    • Prezi
    • Presentation Tube - provides video recording tool and online video platform to help presenters record, publish and share presentations
    • Educreations - Simple whiteboard tool that you can record with
    • VoiceThread - discuss video, images & documents, popular online asynchronous teaching tool
    • Pear Deck - Pear Deck for Google Slides Add-on, you can add interactive questions to your presentations right from Google Slides.
    • Sutori - a collaborative instructional presentation tool
  • Do a screencast  
  • Create an audio recording that can be shared through email or uploaded to Blackboard or Canvas
  • Use Twitter to create a hashtag for discussion, updates on on-going projects, etc.
  • Thisten - network of transcripts of talks, presentations, videos, podcasts and so much more
  • Insert Learning - Google Chrome Extension - Teachers can insert questions, discussions, and insight directly into any Web site
