Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award
The Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award is funded through a gift from the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation. The purpose of the award is to honor one permanent faculty member with an outstanding record of teaching and a sustained record of commitment to student learning. As an institution dedicated to excellence in teaching and learning, Rowan joins with the Office of the Provost and the Lindback Foundation to honor one permanent faculty member with an outstanding record of teaching and a sustained record of commitment to student learning. The selected faculty member will receive $4000.
The nomination deadline is December 10, 2024.

Nomination Process
Students, faculty, staff, and administrators may nominate. Faculty members may self-nominate.
To nominate a faculty member, please complete the nomination form.
All nominees will be notified and will receive details about the materials required to complete a Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award application.
The nomination deadline is December 10, 2024.
Application Process
1. Recommendation from someone who knows your teaching well
2. A statement describing what you teach
- Description of 2 or 3 courses taught
- Description of methods of assessment to measure course outcomes
- Reflections on the goals of each course described
3. A statement describing your students
- The characteristics of your students (majors or non-majors, lower/upper division, graduate)
- Students as learners and your strategies for addressing them
- Their motivation for taking the course
4. Your philosophy of teaching/learning/assessment
5. A personal assessment of your teaching effectiveness and what you’ve done to enhance your effectiveness
NOTE: Items 2-5 should not exceed 6 double-spaced pages
6. Two colleague assessments and/or observations (within the past 3 years) with one page of commentary/reflection (min)
7. Student evaluations from 2 classes within the past 3 years with grade distributions and one page of commentary/reflection for each
8. Syllabi from 2 courses with one page of commentary/reflection for each
9. Additional materials to support your application
10. A short biographical sketch
