Now that you have been admitted to Rowan University, you probably have many things on your mind. To assist you during this exciting time, we hope your new student checklist will help you stay organized. Each checklist item is important to your successful transition to college life.

Online Education Requirements for New Students

To reduce the amount of time students spend on-campus for orientation while maximizing exposure to and understanding of important transition to college life topics, Rowan University has online education requirements that all new students must complete. These educational resources, access instructions, and deadlines are described below. Please contact the host office listed for each requirement for additional information.

 

These requirements can be completed at your own pace before the deadlines listed for each below. You do not need to complete the courses in order. In the meantime, reserve your spot a a Summer Welcome Day now!

Information Technology Security

The Information Security Office (ISO) has a mandatory IT security awareness training program for all faculty, staff and students as part of the University's ongoing commitment to protect information resources critical to the academic and research mission as mandated by local, state, federal laws and regulation. The goal of this training program is to educate the entire Rowan community to recognize IT security best practices, identify risks/threats and respond appropriately to IT security incidents. This training can also be valuable for protecting your personal computers.

All Rowan staff, faculty and students are required to complete this annual training. To complete the training that has been assigned to you, visit go.rowan.edu/securitytraining, enter your Rowan University email address and click Next.

Training consists of a short video covering various areas of Information Security considered important to protecting the safety of your information, computers and the entire Rowan Network. After you finish the training, you will receive a certificate of completion.

Ouch! That Stereotype Hurts

The Office of Student Equity and Compliance (OSEC) has a mandatory online learning program designed for our first year undergraduate and graduate students in line with our vision and commitment to an educational environment free from discrimination, harassment, and all forms of gender-based violence. The Ouch! e-Learning course for Rowan University, a powerful e-Learning program that will enable you to experience the impact of stereotypical comments, explore why people don’t speak up against stereotypes and other biased behaviors, and learn practical techniques that can be used to speak up without blame or guilt.

The program will take under 20 minutes and students will need to complete a short knowledge check with an 80% or higher to complete the course.
