Online Orientation

Online Orientation

We are excited to have you join our University community. Orientation provides you with the information you need to make the most of your Rowan experience.

Online Orientation is offered to students unable to attend an on-campus orientation session. We strongly recommend participation in an on-campus orientation program whenever possible. The undergraduate orientation fee, as set by the Rowan University Board of Trustees, also applies to the online orientation program.

Online Orientation is often not available for self-service reservation online. If you are unable to select Online Orientation, and you must participate in this delivery method, please call our office at (856) 256-4041 to reserve your spot over the phone.

Online Orientation Program

Online Orientation is available for students who are unable to attend an on-campus orientation session. Online Orientation is an online class you will complete at your own pace in Canvas. There is a two-step process to enroll in online orientation, you must:

  1. Select online orientation in the orientation reservation system. If the Online Orientation "date" does not show up for you in the reservation system, please call our office at (856) 256-4041 and we can complete your reservation by phone.
  2. and then Pay the undergraduate orientation fee and enroll in the Canvas course through the Rowan Online Marketplace. You will receive access instructions and step-by-step instructions to complete payment and registration in Marketplace after reserving the online orientation "date" in the orientation reservation system.

Once you register for the Online Orientation Program and pay the undergraduate orientation fee, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with information about how to access the course in the Canvas course management system

For support with the Rowan Online Marketplace or Canvas learning management system, please contact Rowan Online Support at (856) 256-5164.

In addition to online orientation, you should do the following as soon as possible:

Once you are enrolled in the Rowan University Undergraduate Orientation course, you will follow the course syllabus and work at your own pace to complete all required assignments. Once you have achieved an average score of 80% or higher on all required assignments, you have completed the undergraduate orientation requirement! We strongly recommend that you complete the online orientation course before classes begin. A hold will be placed on your account that prevents access to grades and transcripts, graduation, or enrollment in fall 2019 classes until orientation is complete.

Orientation Requirement Holds

All incoming freshmen and transfer students must complete an orientation program. If you did not complete one of the on-campus orientation programs you will have an Orientation Requirement hold on your student account. The orientation requirement hold prevents access to grades and transcripts, graduation, or enrollment in future classes until orientation is complete. Meeting with your advisor or attending an Advising Information Session is not the same as attending University orientation. A University orientation program (either in-person or online) is required for all new students.

Ultimately, we want to make sure that you are aware of the University resources available to you as a new student. If you have any questions about Rowan University, please contact our office at 856-256-4041 or stop by Laurel Hall 101 and we will assist you or connect you to the appropriate resource.

Holds can be viewed through Self-Service Banner by:

  1. Accessing Banner Services with your ID number and PIN.
  2. Select the "Student" tab.
  3. Select "Student Records".
  4. Select "View Holds".

You may have multiple holds on your account. If you have other holds, follow the instructions listed for more information on how to remove those holds.
