Congratulations on your admission! Now that you’ve been accepted to Rowan University, complete the steps below to become a full-fledged Prof!
Please note that any questions should be directed to the appropriate office. The International Center can only assist with immigration-related questions. Make sure you familiarize yourself with Rowan University's various offices and resources!
Memorize Your Banner ID
Your Banner ID number is included on your acceptance letter and in your admissions portal. It is the 9-digit number that starts with “916...”

Complete the New Student Checklist in Your Admissions Portal
This includes accepting the offer of admission, paying the enrollment deposit, and setting up your NetID login information.
Access Your Rowan University Email Address
Log into your Rowan University email account via Microsoft Outlook. You should always be checking your Rowan email for important updates from the International Center.

Apply for Your F-1 Visa
Watch the Mandatory Pre-Arrival Webinars
Register for our International Student Success pre-arrival webinar series via your admissions portal. You will receive an email to your Rowan email address with more information.
Recordings of the webinars will be posted to our Pre-Arrival Information page within one week of the live presentation.
Submit Transcripts to the Admissions Office
Review the International Admissions Policies and have your previous institution submit your official transcripts (paper or electronic) to International Admissions prior to registering for classes. Complete this step as soon as possible after submitting your enrollment confirmation.

Complete Placement Testing (for Incoming Freshmen)
Incoming freshman (first-year undergraduate students) are required to take placement tests in order to register for classes. Click here for placement test information.
If you have any questions about placement testing, contact testingservices@rowan.edu. Please do not email the International Center about this, as we cannot assist with placement test questions!
Talk to Your Academic Advisor
We highly recommend that you contact your academic advisor or graduate coordinator prior to registering for classes to assist with class registration. See this page for information on how to schedule an appointment with your academic advisor.
Please note that your academic advisor is different from your international student advisor (DSO)! Your DSO cannot advise on academics!
After meeting with your advisor and receiving your course schedule, your schedule can be changed/modified through the first week of the semester. Click here for registration deadlines and the add/drop periods for each semester.
International graduate students must register for 9 or more credits each semester. International undergraduate students must register for 12 or more credits each semester. Only one online class counts towards this requirement.
Note: Incoming freshman students are automatically registered for classes for the first semester after their visa is issued.
Wellness Center Requirements
Submit your health records by completing Steps 1 and 2 in the Requirement Steps section. See here for Wellness Center resources for international students.
Depending on the country you are from, you may be required to submit an IGRA blood test. Visit this page for information on IGRA testing.

Apply for Housing & Meal Plans
Review Rowan’s mandatory housing policy here. Apply for on-campus housing and/or select a meal plan using MyHousing. Contact housing-questions@rowan.edu with any questions about on-campus housing or meal plans.
Students may choose to live off-campus if not subject to the mandatory housing policy. If you are interested in off-campus housing, click here for resources. Contact OCSR@rowan.edu with any questions about off-campus housing resources.
F-1 regulations require that students attend classes in-person – please make sure you live within a reasonable distance of Rowan University if living off-campus (within 40 miles)!

Purchase Health Insurance
All students are required to have health insurance during the academic year at Rowan University. As an international student, you are automatically enrolled in the Rowan University Student Health Insurance plan. However, you may also purchase insurance through the approved companies for international students and waive the Student Health Insurance plan.
We do not accept any other insurance providers besides the ones listed above. Please contact the Office of the Bursar at bursar@rowan.edu with any questions about this policy and see this page for more information.
Register for In-Person International Student Onboarding
Register for International Student Onboarding for new students. You must register through your admissions portal. The link to register can be found under the "application checklist" section of the admissions portal. Attendance is required for all incoming F-1 and J-1 students!

Complete the Mandatory F-1 Student Virtual Onboarding
F-1 Student Virtual Onboarding is mandatory for all new students. This is done through the Canvas platform and is designed to prepare you for success in the United States and at Rowan University. The F-1 Student Virtual Onboarding Course is mandatory and must be completed by the first day of the semester. If you do not complete this requirement, you will be unable to register for classes for the following semester until you take appropriate action.
