International Student Onboarding & Check-In
International Student Onboarding
F-1 and J-1 students are required to join us for International Student Onboarding, our in-person international student orientation program. This is different from any other orientations you may have for your degree level or major – you are still required to attend any other orientation sessions that you are invited to. You must register for Onboarding via your admissions portal.
Fall 2026 International Student Onboarding
- Date: Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27, 2026
- Time: To be determined
- Location: To be determined
- Check back here in the spring for updates and continue to monitor your student email address for more information!
Complete F-1 Student Virtual Onboarding
F-1 Student Virtual Onboarding is required for all F-1 international students. You must complete it no later than the start of classes!
F-1 Student Virtual Onboarding is done through the Canvas platform. All F-1 students will be enrolled into the course a month before the start of classes. You will receive an email with more information at that time.
Once you are enrolled in the course, you can access it at any time via Canvas at this link. If you are having problems accessing Canvas, please call or email support@rowan.edu or 856-256-4400.
F-1 Student Virtual Onboarding is mandatory. If you do not complete it by the start of classes, a hold will be placed on your student account that will prevent you from registering for classes for the next semester. If you fail to take action, you will lose your F-1 status!
Check-In After Arrival
All new students are required to submit the Check-In form via Terra Dotta. Failure to submit this request will result in your F-1 record being cancelled. You will need to leave the U.S. if you do not submit the Check-In via Terra Dotta by the start of classes!

- Navigate to the Control Center section of your profile and select the icon for “Check-In” .

- You will receive an email when we approve your Check-In. Monitor your Rowan email inbox for updates!
Update Your U.S. Address
Updating your U.S. address is one of the most important things you should do after arriving to the U.S. Failure to report your U.S. address to Rowan University will result in the termination of your F-1 record, and you will have to leave the U.S. immediately!
You must self-report your U.S. address via the Self-Service Banner. The International Center has prepared some resources to help you do this:
