Respiratory Therapy

What is a Respiratory Therapist?

A Respiratory Therapist (RT) is a specialized healthcare professional and member of the interprofessional healthcare team who helps to diagnose and treat patients with breathing disorders and conditions, such as asthma, emphysema, congestive heart failure, cardiac arrest, traumatic injury, sepsis and COVID-19.

Respiratory therapists can work in doctor’s offices, sleep labs, and in homecare, but most RTs work in the hospital, including emergency rooms, every intensive care area, and with all patient ages. The need for highly skilled RTs is urgent and there are well-paying jobs across the region waiting for you.

To breathe is to live. Join our program and start your path to professional practice and leadership in respiratory care.
