Background Check Process Information

University Background Check information

The university has adopted a new background check policy. It can viewed at Background Check Policy. The new background check vendor is Summit Security. Effective 8/1/15, all candidates for employment are required to successfully complete a background check process prior to starting employment. There are no exceptions.

Rowan Glassboro and Camden campuses will no longer be required to obtain fingerprints for pre-employment screening. New hires should still call the main office of Human Resources when being sent for a background check. Human Resources will notify Summit Security, who will then send the new hire an email with a link to complete his/her background check. The entire process will be completed online; therefore, the new hire will no longer have to travel anywhere to complete the background check. Any new hire candidates that have been fingerprinted up to 7/31/2015 will not have to go through the Summit Security check.

Effective 7/1, the Stratford campus began using the new vendor. Hiring procedures should remain very similar to those processes used under TABB; however, the new hire will not have to complete paper forms any longer. The background check process will be completed online. Hiring departments will now be responsible for conducting previous employment reference checks on new hires. This will no longer be part of the background check process.
