Student Fee Descriptions for Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine (SOM), Physician Assistant (PA) Program, and School of Translational Biomedical Engineering & Sciences (TBES)


Wellness Fee (SOM, PA, and TBES)

The Wellness Fee (Health Service Fee for TBES) is used to support, operate, and maintain vital services available to students at the Stratford and/or Sewell campuses.  These services include unlimited access to the Wellness and Fitness Center plus student health services, which provides psychiatric evaluations, personal counseling, performance coaching, and annual PPD testing and influenza vaccination. 


Health Service Fee (TBES)

The Health Service Fee is used to support, operate, and maintain vital services available to Rowan Virtua TBES students at the Stratford and/or Sewell campuses.  These services include unlimited access to the Wellness and Fitness Center plus student health services, which provides psychiatric evaluations, personal counseling, performance coaching, and annual PPD testing and influenza vaccination. 

Technology Fee (SOM, PA, and TBES)

The Technology Fee is used to provide students with access to various software and the equipment, applications, and resource tools used to support the computer labs and classrooms.  The software includes, but is not limited to, data management, video management for lectures, polling software, and secure assessment software. 

Student Activity Fee (SOM and PA)

The Student Activity Fee is used to support student clubs and organizations at the Stratford and/or Sewell campuses. 

TBES Student Association Fee (TBES)

The Student Association Fee is used to support the student groups to plan and hold events that they organize. 

Computer Fee – 1st Year Students (SOM and PA)

This fee covers a new laptop, charger, and a three-year warranty that First-year students are provided.

Medical Kit – 1st Year Students (SOM)

First-year students are provided with a medical kit, which includes a panoptic diagnostic kit, cardiology stethoscope, 128hz tuning fork, 512hz tuning fork, Tromner reflex hammer, fingertip pulse oximeter, hand eye chart, tape measure, and hand aneroid multi-cuff blood pressure kit in a multi-pocket nylon bag.  This fee covers the cost of the medical kit.

COMSAE – 2nd Year Students (SOM)

This fee covers the cost of the COMSAE, which is a self-assessment exam designed to gauge a student’s knowledge and readiness for the COMLEX.

COMSAE – 3rd Year Students (SOM)

This fee covers the cost of the COMSAE, which is a self-assessment exam designed to gauge a student’s knowledge and readiness for the COMLEX II.

Question Banks – 1st Year Students (SOM)

This fee covers the Question banks providing 1st year students with practice questions and explanations to prepare them for medical licensing board exams.

Question Banks – 2nd Year Students (SOM)

This fee covers the Question banks providing 2nd year students with practice questions and explanations to prepare them for medical licensing board exams.

Question Banks – 3rd Year Students (SOM)

This fee covers the Question banks providing 3rd year students with practice questions and explanations to prepare them for medical licensing board exams.

Disability Insurance (SOM and PA)

The Disability Insurance fee provides low-cost long-term disability insurance with monthly benefit, school loan repayment provision, and travel assistance services.  The program is provided by MedPlus Advantage.
