Meaningful Student Engagement

On February 18, 2016, The Glossary of Education Reform cited that, “Student engagement refers to the degree of attention, curiosity, interest, optimism, and passion that students show when they are learning or being taught, which extends to the level of motivation they have to learn and progress in their education.” It is Rowan University’s student engagement goal for students to become “deep learners” that continue to research and synthesize material from multiple sources; write a complex research paper; design and conduct an original experiment; analyze a complex document or data; determine complex, multiple lines of cause and effect; present artistic medium; develop a new unique perspective; participate in a debate; and design and complete a culminating project.
