Healthy Campus Initiatives

The Office of Healthy Campus Initiatives (HCI) is committed to educating the Rowan University community about making healthy choices and decisions regarding their personal wellness that will enhance the college experience. HCI uses evidence-based practices to reach students, faculty and staff through the development of initiatives and interactive programs to keep the Rowan community informed of current health trends. Students are encouraged to take an active part in their own personal health as well as the health of the campus as a whole. Working in collaboration with other Student Life and academic departments on the Rowan campus allows for a multi-faceted approach to prevention and health promotion. HCI is dedicated to involving the Rowan community in the ever-changing journey to wellness.

New intern opportunities at the Wellness Center! Applications are OPEN!

We’re making some exciting changes to the former Healthy Campus Initiatives internship! Undergraduate interns will have more opportunities to learn about college health, health communication, and health education by working with all of the Wellness Center services!

The Wellness Center is now accepting applications for Fall 2023 internships, field experience, and volunteer placements for students. This internship expects a time commitment of about 6 hours per week. All majors are encouraged to apply! You are not required to receive academic credit, but you are highly encouraged to speak with your academic advisor or the CHSS Match program to see if you are eligible.

Interning with the Wellness Center is a great way to become involved on campus, demonstrate leadership, and have career experience for your resume. The Wellness Center works with several departments on and off-campus and organizes drop-in student support groups like Chill n Chat and oversees training in sexual violence prevention, suicide prevention, substance abuse education, mental health, and sexual health.

Applications will close on April 7th at 4p. Students who are selected for an interview will be notified during the week of April 10th to interview during the following two weeks.
