Health Insurance is Required: Rowan University requires all full time undergraduate and graduate students to have health insurance with a network in South Jersey. The plan must cover general medical care and prescription medications. Note that ALL insurance plans are different. Rowan will automatically enroll you in a plan through Aetna or you can elect to purchase health insurance after your arrival to the US. Do not purchase insurance from your home country since it has limited healthcare coverage in the US. To help you understand the basics of insurance in the US, please view this instructional video. Click here for more information regarding Rowan insurance policies. Students who decide to buy their own health insurance may apply online for a Student Health Insurance Waiver.

Important Insurance/Health Information
There is no charge for office visits for undergraduate students. Graduate students who choose to be seen at the Wellness Center will be charged a once per semester $30 Wellness Fee. Students may be charged for certain immunizations offered at Student Health Services. Students are responsible for prescription drugs, labs, x-rays and outside provider costs. Student Health Services focuses upon preventive care and the treatment of acute illnesses and injuries. The health service does not take the place of a primary physician. While SHS can handle most needs, students with more serious disorders requiring hospitalization, laboratory, diagnostics or specialist care will be referred accordingly. You may also receive personal counseling, including individual, group and couples counseling or psychotherapy at no charge through our affiliated Counseling and Psychological Services (856-256-4333).
All students are required to submit Mandatory Health Forms. These forms should be completed and submitted prior to your arrival at Rowan University. Failure to submit completed Mandatory Health Forms may result in up to $100 in late fees being placed on your student account. In addition to a late fee you will not be able to register for future classes until all forms are completed. Click here to complete the 3 Step process for your Mandatory Health Forms. Below is a chart showing all requirements and the estimated cost to have them completed if you fail to do so before arriving at Rowan University.

- TB Blood Tests- testing for Latent TB
TB blood tests are also called interferon-gamma release assays or IGRAs. Two TB blood tests are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and are available in the United States: the QuantiFERON®-TB Gold Plus (QFT-Plus) and the T-SPOT®.TB test (T-Spot).
A health care provider will draw a patient’s blood and send it to a laboratory for analysis and results. Positive TB blood test: This means that the person has been infected with TB bacteria. Additional tests are needed to determine if the person has latent TB infection or TB disease. Negative TB blood test: This means that the person’s blood did not react to the test and that latent TB infection or TB disease is not likely. TB blood tests are the preferred TB test for: People who have received the TB vaccine bacille Calmette–Guérin (BCG). From CDC website https://www.cdc.gov/tb/topic/testing/tbtesttypes.htm
* Up to date Tetanus Immunization is recommended for all students.
