The Wellness Center provides confidential services without regard to race, religion, ancestry, sex, age, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, as well as marital, military or veteran status.
Parent notification occurs only when a student is under 18 years of age or a student is medically unable to make a decision. Students 18 or older must sign a written consent form to release any information.
Do our records remain confidential?
YES. All of your information is kept strictly confidential according to state and federal laws. NO information will be released by our providers or other staff to anyone, including your parents, without your prior WRITTEN authorization, EXCEPT in the following situations:
1. When there is a risk of imminent harm to yourself or another person.
2. When there is reasonable cause to suspect that a child, elderly person, or mentally incompetent person is being abused, neglected, or exploited.
3. When a court of law orders information to be released.
4. When State law requires documentation of immunizations as a condition of attending Rowan.
Some illnesses have reporting requirements to the state, such as bacterial meningitis or an animal bite. For more information, see Disease and Injury Reporting Requirements.
Wellness Center staff and affiliated providers retain the privilege to consult with one another about clients for treatment and/or training purposes.
