Crime Prevention

Welcome to the Rowan University Crime Prevention page.  Rowan University's Department of Public Safety is committed to the concept of Crime Prevention.  The department employs a departmental involvement philosophy toward our crime prevention programs.

The Crime Prevention Section's objective is to communicate safety and security concepts throughout the campus community.  Using in-person presentations as well as printed materials, Crime Prevention educates students and staff in the following areas:  The Crime Prevention Triangle, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, Use of our Shuttle Service, Using our Emergency/Assistance Phones, Car and Bike Security, Date Rape/Sexual Assault Prevention, Rape Aggression Defense training, as well as other timely issues in public safety.

A few simple precautions or a bit of knowledge might be the difference in a student or staff member becoming a victim of a crime.  Our job is to educate the campus community on these concepts and reinforce them once everyone is educated.  We also attempt to locate problem areas or situations, i.e., lighting, unsecured equipment, etc.  Your safety and security is our utmost concern.

Our Crime Prevention section encourages involvement in campus safety issues.  Students, Staff, Parents, and prospective students may feel free to call Lieutenant Adam McCain with any questions or concerns at 856-256-4917 or email him at mccain@rowan.edu.

To report a crime or if you have information about a crime please get in touch with the Department of Public Safety at 856-256-4922.  To remain anonymous call our Crime Tip Line:  856-256-7428.
