Representing Rowan
When someone sees an item produced by Rowan University, it should have a certain “look” about it that says, “Rowan.” At a glance, the use of color, typography, photos and illustrations should work together to reflect our graphic identity and design standards. This doesn’t mean that everything has to look alike, but that certain elements and design techniques in a wide range of projects should be consistent enough to show that they’re from the Rowan family of communicators.
Working with your Publications colleagues
Whether your project is a postcard, report, t-shirt, banner or other typical communication or promotional item, we probably already have a good model for designing and producing it that will serve your needs and make the most of our University resources. Let us know what you have in mind and we'll offer samples that can be adapted to meet most requirements.
If we don't have a model or template for a special project, we can guide you to develop a project plan that accomplishes your goals and complies with Rowan identity standards. To talk with us about a project, e-mail Lori Marshall or call University Publications.
Be prepared to answer questions---maybe a lot of them, starting with:
- What is your deadline?
- What is your goal?
- Who is your audience?
- What is your budget?
- Is this an update or a new project?
- What do you need help with, text, photos, design, selecting a vendor?
- Is your online information up-to-date and ready to coordinate with the rest of your projects?
Working with an “outside” design vendor
As Rowan's central creative staff, we serve the whole University, so our schedule and workload limit what we can do. If we can't help you with your project, we may suggest a freelance designer or agency. If you'd like to choose another designer or design firm, it's still critical to follow the Graphic Standards. Be sure to point your designer to this website.
