Colleen Meehan Paredes
Study Abroad Exchange Program Coordinator
Biography
Colleen Meehan-Paredes is the Study Abroad: Exchange Program Coordinator in the International Center at Rowan University. Her main responsibility is to coordinate the students’ participation in the various exchange programs that Rowan University offers abroad.
Ms. Paredes obtained her BA from Rutgers University, her teaching degree from the Universidad Centroamericana in El Salvador and her master’s from the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain. Ms. Paredes was an elementary school teacher for 37 years. She spent 12 years teaching English to Spanish speakers in El Salvador and the remaining years teaching Spanish here in NJ. Ms. Paredes has also lived abroad in Spain during her master studies. For Ms. Paredes, living and studying abroad not only provides academic growth but it enhances a broader view of the world. This intercultural connection teaches the student to be more independent, resourceful, and empathetic to all people in the world.
Ms. Paredes joined the International Center in the fall of 2023. She is very excited to work with Rowan students in their pursuit for global learning.
