The Parent Employee Resource Group, in partnership with the Center for Well-Being, is organizing Take Your Child to Work Day on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Our employees devote their careers to serving others, and Take Your Child to Work Day allows their children to experience the powerful service and support they provide to our students.

To promote a safe and positive experience for all participants, please review the following guidelines:

Guidelines for a Successful Take Your Child to Work Day

  • Parents and caregivers must remain with their children at all times, including during all activities and events.
  • A variety of events are planned throughout the day. Maintaining departmental coverage is essential; employees and supervisors should coordinate to ensure participation in TYCTWD activities does not disrupt department operations.
  • Employees wishing to participate in any scheduled events must discuss with their manager in advance. If approved, the employee and manager will decide how time away from work will be handled. Options may include flexing hours during the week, adjusting the employee’s schedule, or using available time off, depending on the amount of time spent at Take Your Child to Work Day activities.
  • To comply with Rowan University’s FERPA policy, children may not view any confidential student information.
  • Rowan University’s Acceptable Use Policy prohibits children from using Rowan-issued technology, including office computers and other University devices.
  • If children will be present in the regular work environment, supervisors and employees should identify an appropriate space that does not interfere with daily operations or service to students.
  • Employees should plan ahead for quiet periods, bringing snacks, books, or quiet activities for their children when work areas require focus or minimal noise.
  • Children should dress and behave appropriately for a professional university environment. This includes maintaining an acceptable noise level, staying with their parent or guardian at all times, and minimizing disruptions to offices, classes, events, meetings, and other University activities.
  • Only children from ages 4 to 17 are permitted to attend.

Thank you for your interest in Take Your Child To Work Day (TYCTWD) on Rowan's Glassboro Campus. We are excited that you are interested in sharing in this event which we hope will bring a sense of connection, fun, and community to our campus.

Historically, Take Your Child To Work Day has been a day that supports children in learning a variety of careers and seeing their caregivers in roles other than parent/caregiver. We see TYCTWD as fulfilling this mission along with others. Our goals for this day include:

  • Provide children of university employees an opportunity to experience the various careers available within a university setting through experiential activities that align with their interests and strengths.
  • Share with our children what it means to serve others, as we serve the Rowan students daily.
  • Promote employee well-being by building family-work connections and fostering a sense of community.
  • Recognize and value employees by supporting work-life integration and offering a meaningful family-friendly event.
  • Offer an educational, behind-the-scenes look at higher education
  • Expose children to the vibrant academic, extracurricular, and support resources for potential enrollment to Rowan University.
