Meditation Walk Phase 3
Meditation Walk Entrance Plaza at Cassady Way and Rt. 322
The eastern portion of Meditation Walk—starting near the volleyball court and continuing along Cassady Way to Route 322—underwent a transformation this summer! The improved pedestrian path and adjacent Commuter Lot J are open for use. However, aspects of the project will continue into the fall and spring that may require portions of the area to be closed temporarily. Please be advised that detours may be necessary around the project site shown here.
When complete, the improvements will extend the signature materials and furnishings from the previously completed length of the Walk—from Business Hall to the Chamberlain Student Center—which include concrete and brick paving, contemporary lighting, benches, trash receptacles, and ecologically-focused planting. The reconfigured parking in Lot J accommodates stormwater infrastructure that uses sustainable practices to capture runoff before it reaches Abbotts Pond.
A striking feature will be the addition of a plaza at the entrance to campus from Rt. 322 at Cassady Way. A distinctive seating area and signage will signal this gateway from Rowan Boulevard. The plaza is being funded through a generous contribution by the Student Government Association.
Thank you in advance for your continued patience during construction. If you have any questions or comments, please reach out to Linda Walczak, Campus Landscape Architect, in the Division of Facilities, Planning and Operations walczak@rowan.edu.
