Enhancing the student experience and cultivating a sense of community
Dr. Lizza is responsible for the administrative vision, leadership, and management of the Chamberlain Student Center and Campus Activities. This comprehensive department provides an array of programs, facilities and services in support of the Division of Student Affairs and the University’s mission and core values. In this role, Dr. Lizza directly oversees the programmatic, service, operational and financial components of the Student Center auxiliary operation and provides overall leadership in establishing initiatives and goals that promote a culture of quality, inclusion and excellent service to the University community.
A professional in the field of student affairs since 2007, Dr. Lizza has served on executive leadership teams within student affairs organizations and has extensive experience leading and managing in higher education. He currently serves as a trustee of the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) Foundation, previously serving on the association’s Board of Directors. Within the Association of College Unions International (ACUI), Dr. Lizza served in numerous roles to enhance and advance campus community.
Dr. Lizza earned his bachelor’s degree at Monmouth University in Education, History, and Political Science, and completed his master’s degree in Higher Education Administration and doctorate in Educational Leadership at Rowan University. Dr. Lizza’s dissertation research focused on student organization culture and development, specifically the congruence between organization’s and members’ values, principles and standards. Dr. Lizza has published articles focused on organizational culture, student learning through employment, and risk management and emergency preparedness in higher education. He is a Certified Student Affairs Educator.
His areas of focus include student engagement and retention, campus programming, organization advisement, facilities operations, information and visitor services, emergency preparedness, student conduct, strategic planning and assessment.
