Testing and Grading

Testing and Grading

Testing/Grading

Students will be graded on the quality of fish and actuation perfomance based. Students will also be graded on a design report produced at the end of the term.

Environments where the fish can be tested

  • Tested for stationaly movement in a contained environment such as a container of water
  • Tested for forward movement in a large environment such as a pond

Report

The report is written in a professional manner and conveys the information of the project effectively

The report is written fairly well, except some sections are not described well and can be hard to follow

The report is written in an unprofessional manner, unorganized, and difficult to follow and understand

Actuation Test

The fish is able to have forward movement with the use of pneumatic and hydraulic actuation

The fish is able to have forward movement with only one of the actuation principles

The fish does not function with either of the actuation principles

Stationary Movement Test

The fish tail moves and actuates in a fish-like motion consisting of fluid motion

The fish tail moves and actuates in a fish-like motion, however movement is not fluidic

The fish fails to move and actuate in the way a fish swims, and shows little to no movement

Test in a Large Body of Water

The fish has fast movement through the water, illustrating the actuation principle with proper tail movement

The fish has forward movement through the water, but it is without much speed and fluidity

The fish fails to have any forward movement in the water.
