Campus Sustainability Planning
Rowan University is working towards reducing our environmental impacts in our buildings and operations, especially as the university continues to expand and grow. We also consider the communities in which we operate part of our campus, and are always looking to contribute positively to the ecology, economy, and societal health in those places.
We've thought a lot about sustainability at Rowan, and you can find our various plans and documents relating to sustainability on this page. Many of the plans are in the process of being updated, and those updates will be posted here as they become available.
Sustainability Tracking, Assessment, and Rating System (STARS) Report: In 2025, Rowan completed its first-ever STARS report. STARS is operated by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). We opted for "Reporter" status to help establish a baseline for the university to improve upon in the years ahead.
Rowan University Master Plan: In 2024, Rowan embarked on a campus-wide master planning process, supported by the consulting firm OLIN. The final planning document is expected to be shared at some point 2025.
