Study Sustainability Abroad!
There are plenty of excellent study abroad opportunities if you're interested in sustainability.
To learn more, your first stop should be the Rowan Education Abroad office. They have the full listing of eligible study abroad programs for Rowan students. You'll also work with them to apply to programs, complete all the necessary forms for transfer credits, and so on. Most of these programs are designed for a full semester.
Here are just a few programs we think might be of interest.
School of Earth and Environment's Summer Abroad Programs
Rowan's School of Earth and Environment leads shorter study abroad programs, just following the spring semester, that are particularly focused on sustainability-related issues.
The 2024 trip focused on the Great Urban Spaces of Europe. Students traveled to London, Paris, Florence, and Rome under the guidance of a Rowan University professor and a professional study abroad assistant/expert guide via EF Tours. You can watch several students share testimonials of their 2024 experience here.
The 2025 trip centers on the Urbanization of the East, unfolding in three countries and three cities within them: Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, formerly Saigon), Cambodia (Siem Reap), and Thailand (Bangkok). The trip will introduce students to Southeast Asia, a part of the world that plays a significant role in globalization via manufacturing output, has had and continues to have incredible geopolitical importance, and cultural inputs that are sometimes unknown or underappreciated to students in the U.S. and Europe. Students will learn about the natural beauty of the region as well as of the culture, including the many contributions that flow from this part of the world.
