Sustainability Student Groups and Career Info
A variety of student groups at Rowan are engaged in action on sustainability. A few highlights are below - get involved!
Rowan Environmental Action League (REAL): In addition to meetings, REAL hosts events such as campus clean ups, environmental-related trips, and our annual Clean the Stream and Earth Day events. We collaborate with other clubs on campus for certain events, such as ASCE and the Food Recovery Network. Most notably, we maintain a Community Garden located near the freshman dorms, where we grow food for anyone to take and to donate to the SHOP.
GEO Club: The Rowan GEO Club aims to build upon and enhance students' interest in our world and our relationship with it through hands-on activities, educational forums, career networking, and volunteer opportunities.
South Jersey Climate News: South Jersey Climate News is a collaborative journalism initiative that explores the effects of climate change on a local and regional level in southern New Jersey. The staff is composed of students from Rowan University and Atlantic Cape Community College.
Rowan University Student Planning Organization (RUSPO): We provide students with experiential learning opportunities, field trips, and professional networking to support student discovery and study of the community and environmental planning field.
Rowan YDSA Progressives Environmental Working Group: Rowan YDSA Progressives is student-run organization working to educate the student body of Rowan University on political, economic, and social issues from progressive perspectives. The environmental working group focuses on issues and campaigns related to sustainability and climate change.
