Meet the Staff

Meet the staff of the Office of Equity and Diversity now located in Bunce Hall, Suite 256. The Office of Equity & Diversity (OED) plays a significant role in providing advocacy for employees. It can be said that the OED protects the institution’s wellbeing by protecting individuals’ wellbeing. This may come in the form of removing impediments to access, encouraging a supportive environment, ensuring compliance with state or federal policies or providing resources.

Policies & Procedures

Familiarize yourself with policies that are in place to protect your rights to a respectful work environment free of discrimination, harassment, workplace violence and bullying. Each of the policies monitored by the Office of Equity and Diversity addresses concerns associated with equity and diversity in the workplace.

Americans with Disabilities

The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) prohibits discrimination and ensures equal opportunity for persons with disabilities in employment, State and local government services, public accommodations, commercial facilities, and transportation. The Office of Equity and Diversity plays a substantial role in the enforcement of this Act to ensure the rights of individuals with disabilities.

Harassment and Discrimination

The State of New Jersey is committed to providing every State employee and prospective State employee with a work environment free from prohibited discrimination or harassment. Under this policy, forms of employment discrimination or harassment based upon the following protected categories are prohibited and will not be tolerated: race, creed, color, national origin, nationality, ancestry, age, sex/gender (including pregnancy), marital status, civil union status, domestic partnership status, familial status, religion, affectional or sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, genetic information, liability for service in the Armed Forces of the United States, or disability.

Title IX at Rowan University: What you need to know

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in all educational settings for both students and employees. In compliance with Title IX, Rowan University does not deny or limit any student the ability to participate in or benefit from any University program on the basis of sex or gender. Once a concern reaches the OED, the university’s Title IX team investigates and addresses complaints of violation. All employees are protected under Title IX and complaints will be investigated under the State EEO policy and model procedures.

Title IX Summit

Rowan University is proud to announce the 6th Annual Title IX Summit where institutions, industry experts, community based organizations and government representatives engage each year in provocative discussions around Title IX.
