IE Certificate Level Two

Inclusive Pedagogy and Practices Certificate
The Division of Inclusive Excellence, Community and Belonging (IECB) is proud to present the Virtual Inclusive Pedagogy and Practices Certificate Program. This is a professional development opportunity for teaching professionals and professional staff interested in learning more about developing an inclusive educational environment throughout Rowan University. This certificate program is an excellent enhancement to your personal and professional development related to making our university a welcoming and accessible place for everyone.
Registrants will select one of two core course track modules:
Inclusive Pedagogy Track Module:
Registrants in the inclusive pedagogy track will engage with content focused on classroom-based ideas and strategies that make those spaces accessible to as many students as possible from the outset of instruction (e.g., tips related to Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in the classroom).
Inclusive Campus Track Module:
Registrants in the Inclusive Practices Track will engage with content focused on all non-classroom-based ideas and strategies that make the rest of our campus accessible (e.g., tips related to Universal Design for Learning (UDL) department meetings, office spaces, designing flyers, making presentations, giving campus tours, etc).
What to Expect
- Synchronous (live) - scheduled sessions with the course instructor (5.5 hours total)
- Asynchronous (on your own) - weekly readings, videos, and completion of activities (approximately 1 hour per week)
- Culminating project - complete a project in which you will identify a barrier to inclusive practices and work to remedy the problem throughout the course
Registration
**Please note, if you are a Rowan employee or student, completing the Foundations of IE Certificate is a prerequisite for the IPP certificate. Completing the Foundations of IE Certificate is not a requirement if you are an external participant.
Module 1: Welcome
In this module, participants will meet the course facilitators and learn how to navigate the course and about the asynchronous assignments and expectations related to each module. Participants will think about an area of inclusive need on campus and learn how they will set inclusive goals related to their respective course tracks.
Module 2: Including Disability in a Culture of Diversity, What is Neurodiversity and Foundations of Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
This module consists of three (3) parts entitled: (a) Including Disability in a Culture of Diversity, (b) What is Neurodiversity, and (c) Foundations of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). This module is required for all participants as the content applies to both course tracks.
Module 3: Pedagogy Track
This module consists of three (3) parts entitled: (a) Framework for the Inclusive Classroom, (b) Technology, and (c) Strategies for Creating Inclusive Classrooms. There is an optional fourth part entitled (d) Neurodiversity in the Workplace, should participants want to explore additional content.
Module 4: Practice Track
This module consists of three (3) parts entitled: (a) The Inclusive Campus, (b) Technology, and (c) Neurodiversity in the Workplace.
Module 5: Presentations
In this final module, participants will present their inclusive goal(s) and evidence of the work they have completed throughout the course to make their classroom/campus more inclusive. Participants will receive public acknowledgment of their work and a certificate of completion.

Creating a Neuro-Inclusive Workplace Certificate Program
The Division of Inclusive Excellence, Community and Belonging (IECB) and the Center for Neurodiversity at Rowan University proudly present the virtual Creating a Neuro-Inclusive Workplace Certificate Program.
This is an external professional development opportunity for those interested in developing inclusive organizational and workplace environments. This certificate program is designed for external participants and is an excellent enhancement to your personal and professional development.

Antiracist Pedagogy and Practices Certificate

This is a professional development opportunity for those interested in developing antiracist educational and organizational environments. This certificate program is an excellent enhancement to your personal and professional development.
Registrants will select one of two core course track modules:
Pedagogy track - offers strategies that work to establish an antiracist learning environment from curriculum to classroom climate.
Practice track - offers strategies that work to implement antiracist approaches in the participants' organization.

Course Content and Schedule
Module 1 - Welcome and Introductions
Modules 2 & 3 - Core Concepts in Antiracism
Topics include: Defining racism and antiracism, intersectionality, critical race theory, decentring whiteness, racial battle fatigue, and more.
Modules 4 & 5 - Strategies for Practicing Antiracism
Participants split into pedagogy or practices track.
Module 6 - Sharing Strategies
*Please note, this is a 2-hour session.
