Let's Talk Bias: A Roundtable Discussion featuring the NJ Attorney General’s Office

Join representatives from the NJ Attorney General’s Office, Division on Civil Rights, and Division of Criminal Justice for a discussion on bias. The first hour will include educational presentations, followed by a roundtable discussion. Co-sponsored by The Attorney General's Office, Rowan NAACP, Rowan Black Student Union, and the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Join us for a critical discussion on bias

12:00 - 1:00 P.M. - Presentations on Bias (*on Zoom and in-person)

  • Engage with representatives from the NJ Attorney General’s Office, Division on Civil Rights, and Division of Criminal Justice about how issues of bias and discrimination are addressed in New Jersey.
  • Learn the difference between a bias incident and a bias crime.
  • Discuss what we can each do to stop bias and hate in New Jersey.
     

1:00 - 2:00 P.M. - Roundtable Discussion (*In-person ONLY)

  • Join a roundtable discussion to share experiences and concerns regarding bias.
  • Discuss what we can each do to stop bias and hate in New Jersey.
  • Ask questions about bias and engage with distinguished panelists.

37th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Breakfast & Day of Service

We had a wonderful 37th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Breakfast and Day of Service! We were joined by Dr. Mae C. Jemison, Special Guest, the first woman of Color to travel into space and NASA’s first Science Mission Specialist, and Rick Williams, Master of Ceremonies, Current co-anchor of Action News at 5 p.m. and anchor of Action News at 11 p.m.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service

We enjoyed serving our local communities in the spirit of Dr. King! The MLK Day of Service occurred after the 37th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Breakfast. This year's service opportunities included:

On-site opportunities at the Chamberlain Student Center: 

  • Juniper Village Assisted Living - Valentine’s goodie bags
  • Cathedral Kitchen - PB&J sandwiches and placemats
  • Color A Smile - drawings for senior citizens, troops abroad, and others who need a smile
  • Local animal shelters - T-shirt Dog Toy making
  • Volunteers Of America Delaware Valley (VOADV) shelters & transitional housing programs - Period product gift bags

Off-site opportunities (transportation provided) at: 

  • Boys & Girls Club of Glassboro
  • Rowan University Early Childhood Development Center
