Sexual Health Education

Rowan University supports decisions that students make regarding their own sexual health and wellness, including the decision to remain abstinent. Whatever decision you make, be informed about all your options. Know what resources are available to your and your partner.

Think sex is better when you’re drunk or high? Guess again. Alcohol decreases sensation for both men and women, can make it more difficult for males to achieve and maintain an erection, and decrease lubrication for females. Also, according to New Jersey state law (NJSA 2C:14-1):

An individual who is physically or mentally impaired, generally, cannot give consent to sexual activity. Physical or mental impairment includes: visual, speech or hearing impaired, a person with a cognitive impairment; a person who is unconscious or sleeping; or a person who is voluntarily or involuntarily under the influence of alcohol or other substance(s).
