There are many ways for you to get involved with the Wellness Center!

To create a culture of health literacy, the internship program works to educate others & spread
awareness of health related topics and resources. Our mission is to intentionally develop interns into leaders who educate others about health topics and information while also allowing for their own growth, skill development, and adaptability. We strive to offer interns a platform and opportunity to practice and learn competencies that will help them excel in their chosen professions.

Graduate Coordinator- Programming (Position 1)

  • Hiring for: Fall/Spring Semester, 2024 - 2026
  • $25 per hour, 10 hours per week
  • Hours: Tuesdays, 2pm - 4pm, Fridays 9am - 12pm *Five hours as discussed with supervisor) 

This graduate student will be responsible for planning large-scale events in the fall and spring semesters (Student Mental Health Conference and Take Back the Night) as well as co-supervise a group of undergraduate interns from a variety of majors.

The responsibilities of this position include working independently and as a member of a team under moderate supervision to:

  1. Be the lead contact for two major Wellness Center programs: the Student Mental Health Conference (fall) and Take Back the Night (spring). This includes securing space, materials, speakers as needed, scheduling volunteers, speaking to student and local media.
  2. Present materials related to mental health, suicide prevention, sexual health, sexual violence prevention, and alcohol/other drug education to students, faculty, and staff, including Rowan 101 or other classes
  3. Collaborate with other university departments to maintain a full functioning Wellness Center, with communication and community event planning, 
  4. May represent the Wellness Center at open houses, orientations, or other campus events
  5. Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, and current enrollment in a full-time graduate program at Rowan University.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Google Drive
  • Supervisory skills
  • Discretion and professionalism in dealing with sensitive information.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, customer service skills
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity. 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, be well-organized and task-oriented, perform effectively under pressure and adapt to changing demands and priorities.

Graduate Coordinator - Student Development (Position 2)

  • Hiring for: Fall/Spring Semester, 2024 - 2026
  • $25 per hour, 10 hours per week
  • Hours: Tuesdays, 2pm - 4pm, Fridays 9am - 12pm (Five hours as discussed with supervisor) 

This graduate student will primarily be responsible undergraduate for student development of interns and other student groups.

The responsibilities of this position include working independently and as a member of a team under moderate supervision to:

  • Review and approve intern outreach events and materials, including scheduling, program development, and outreach.
  • Supervise undergraduate staff
  • Be the lead contact for recurring events, such as Free Condom Friday, Chill n Chat, and other weekly events.
  • Oversee undergraduate student submissions to Rowan Blog each semester, including proofreading.
  • May represent the Wellness Center at open houses, orientations, or other campus events
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Interning with the Wellness Center is a great way to become involved on campus, demonstrate leadership, and have career experience for your resume. The Wellness Center works with several departments on and off-campus and organizes drop-in student support groups like Chill n Chat and oversees training in sexual violence prevention, suicide prevention, substance abuse education, mental health, and sexual health.

The Wellness Center offers several opportunities for students to be involved in planning and implementing a variety of health and wellness programs on campus. Students will learn in-depth about relevant issues to college health and have the opportunity to collaborate with several different departments and organizations.
