Department Mission Statement: The Shreiber Family Pet Therapy Program at Rowan University’s mission is to establish a program providing a variety of Animal-Assisted Interventions (including Animal-Assisted Therapy [AAT], and Animal-Assisted Activities [AAI]) bringing certified therapy animals to visit with Rowan University’s diverse student body, starting with Rowan University's campuses and affiliates) to support student health and well-being. The program partners with the other departments in the Wellness Center, including: Emergency Medical Services (EMS); Healthy Campus Initiatives (HCI); Counseling & Psychological Services (CPS); and Student Health Services (SHS). We also partner with other offices on campus, in particular, students who may be otherwise underrepresented. These partnership include: the Division of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) [such as: the Social Justice, Inclusion & Conflict Resolution Center (SJICR)]; Academic Affairs (such as: Disability Services, and, the Autism PATH Program; Military Services; and, Admissions); the Early Childhood Demonstration Center; the College of Humanities & Social Sciences (CHSS); Honors College; and the upcoming Rowan School of Veterinary Medicine. Partnerships also include student clubs such as: the Pre-Vet Club, and the Animal Advocacy Club.

Georgia's passion has always been to work with individuals with disabilities. In addition, her love for animals is another important part of her life. She reports that as someone who identifies as neurodivergent, school has always been a challenge for her. She decided while she was in her undergraduate program to adopt a dog to have as an emotional support animal. to her, Rex is the cutest boy and she loves his big floppy ears as well as his majestic look. He is one of many reasons she is interested in examining how therapy dogs are beneficial in higher education for neurodivergent college students.
