Learn to Swim Policies
Registration
- Registration for a class ends prior to the first day of lessons to allow for instructor scheduling. If registration is closed and spots are still available, approval from the Assistant Director of Aquatics and Risk Management is required for any late registration and is not guaranteed.
- If you cancel prior to one week before the sessions start date, you will receive a full refund. Cancellations made less than one week before the sessions start date will not be refunded but may be credited for the next session.
- Sessions fill up fast; if the lesson you are most interested in is full, please reach out to
- Please contact Taylor Mullens, Assistant Director of Aquatics and Risk Management, via email at mullenst@rowan.edu.
- Class pre-reqs for each level are determined based on the successful completion of the skills from the class level prior.
- A child’s age is a limiting factor which may prohibit them from registering for all classes; in this case you will be registered manually by the department. Please contact Taylor Mullens, Assistant Director of Aquatics and Risk Management, via email at mullenst@rowan.edu.
- In order for a child to move to the next level, students must pass all skills listed for the particular level.
- Registration for the next level may be during a current session; please speak with your child’s instructor prior to registering for the next session to ensure your child is placed in the correct level.
- If you have any concerns with a class:
- Please talk to the instructor first – let them explain what you are seeing, give them strategies that you use at home with your child.
- Contact Taylor Mullen, Assistant Director of Aquatics and Risk Management, at mullenst@rowan.edu.
- Parents must accompany their children into and out of the facility. During the swimming lesson, parents must remain in the designated waiting areas and observe their child’s lesson from a non-distracting distance. Parents will accompany their child anytime they need to use the locker rooms or family changing areas.
- All Swim Lesson participants are asked to wait to enter the pool until their lesson begins or their instructor comes to get them.
- Please do your best to get your child to use the restroom prior to their lesson.
Make-up Lessons
- Make-up lessons will be held only if a lesson is cancelled due to inclement weather, pool closing, or other unforeseen circumstances.
- In the case that your session does not offer a make-up lesson due to other University events or programming and a date is cancelled for any of the reasons above, you will be offered a discount to apply to the next session of lessons.
- Missed swim lessons cannot be transferred to another session, rescheduled, nor refunded.
