How to Register
Go to campusrec.rowan.edu and Log In/Sign Up.
Step 1: Log in on the upper right hand corner. You can log in with your Rowan network credentials. If you a rec center member, log in with your campus rec username adn password.
Step 2: After you sign into the Member Portal, you will be re-directed to the Home Page.
Step 3: Click the Programs button.
Step 4: To add a program to the shopping cart:
- Select the proper semester
- Select Swim Lessons
- Click Add to Cart
Policies
Registration and Enrollment
Eligibility:
- Fall Session I swim lessons are available for all full time registered students
- Faculty, staff and Rec Center members are eligible to register and participate in our expanded Adult Swim Lesson program during Fall Session II
Enrollment:
- Registration is required before the first lesson. Spaces are limited and are filled on a first come, first serve basis
- Waitlist:If a class is full, you will have the option to be placed on a waitlist through the registration portal. If you do not see the waitlist as an option, it means the waitlist has been filled.
Class Structure
- Levels: The private swim lesson session is taught based on the self assigned skill level. Please review the skill level descriptions to ensure you are registered in the appropriate class.
- Duration: Lessons are scheduled four consecutive weeks at 30 mins per lesson
- Attendance: Regular attendance is crucial for progress. Please arrive 10 minutes early to ensure the class starts on time.
- Tuition: Fees are due at the time of registration via the Fusion Member Portal
- Refunds: No refunds will be given for missed classes. If a class is canceled by the facility, a makeup class or credit will be provided.
- Any changes and/or cancellations to your registration must take place prior to the last day or registration to receive a full refund. Cancellations made after registration closes will result in a forfeiture of payment.
- Health Requirements: Participants should be in good health and free from contagious illness. Please notify us of any medical conditions or allergies.
- Attire: Proper swimwear is required. Swim caps and goggles are highly recommended but not required.
- Supervision: While instructors provide guidance, participants are responsible for their own safety and well-being during lessons.
- Conduct: Positive behavior is expected. Disruptive behavior may result in removal from the class.
- Discipline: Persistent behavior issues will be addressed through a meeting with the participant to determine appropriate steps
- Make-Up Lessons

- Missed swim lessons cannot be transferred to another session, rescheduled, nor refunded.
- Make-up lessons will be held only if a lesson is canceled due to inclement weather, pool closing, or other unforeseen circumstances.
- In the case that your session does not offer a make-up lesson due to other University events or programming and a date is canceled for any of the reasons above, you will be offered a discount to apply to the next session of lessons.

- Weather: In the event of severe weather, lessons may be canceled. Updates will be provided via email.
- Facility Closures: Lessons will not be held on holidays or during facility maintenance period
- Consent: Photos and videos may be taken during lessons for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed, please contact Taylor Mullens, Assistant Director of Aquatics and Risk Management (mullenst@rowan.edu).

Adult Swim Lesson Levels
Beginner Level 1
- Skills Practiced and Learned:
- Safely enter and exit the water
- Jumping and falling into the water and regaining footing
- Front and back float
- Flipping from front to back float
- Front and back glide
- Swim front crawl (free style) 10 feet
- Swim elementary backstroke 10 feet
- Introduction to treading water
Intermediate Level
Class Description: this level is for adults who are confident and comfortable in the water and are looking to acquire the basic stroke techniques. This course focuses on mastering fundamental freestyle, elementary backstroke and introduces backstroke while enhancing your confidence in floating and treading water.
- Skills Practiced and Learned:
- Proper kick technique
- Body positioning in the water
- The ability to swim freestyle 25 yards
- The ability to swim elementary backstroke 25 yards
- Introduction to backstroke
- Tread water for 10 seconds
Advanced Intermediate Level
- Skills Practiced and Learned:
- The ability to swim backstroke 25 yards
- The ability to swim freestyle with side breathing for 15 yards
- Introduction to breaststroke
- Tread water for 30 seconds
