What is PATH?

The Autism PATH (Preparation and Achievement in the Transition to Hire) Program at Rowan University is designed to support neurodivergent students and alumni in the transition to meaningful employment post-graduation. This program was created to combat the under-employment and unemployment rate of individuals on the autism spectrum. PATH consists of three components: career readiness, social engagement, and resource networks. The career readiness component provides students with individualized career coaching, workshops, mock interviews, job coaching, and career exploration opportunities. Utilizing the co-active coaching model, students and alumni are expected to actively participate in goal setting. PATH Connect/PATH Career Workshops is the social engagement component of the program which supports student interactions and inclusion within the campus community. The resource networks are designed to connect students, alumni, and their families to employers, agencies, and information needed to promote a successful transition into employment. 

The PATH Program recognizes the value of neurodiversity and the program allows students who identify as neurodivergent to participate in programming. Students are able to select the supports they need from the program. The program is at no additional cost to Rowan University students and alumni. The program emphasizes the importance of educating students on career paths while also educating employers about the benefits of a neurodiverse workplace. Building partnerships with employers to provide opportunity for students to job shadow, intern, and develop neurodiverse hiring programs is the focus of the employer relations aspect of the program.
