Center for Neurodiversity Launch
On October 20, 2021, Rowan University welcomed the Rowan community to a special event in celebration of the opening of the new Center for Neurodiversity, the first of its kind in the State of New Jersey. The Center is grounded in the perspectives of neurodivergent students, faculty, staff and leaders in the neurodiversity movement. At the Center for Neurodiversity, we value and respect neurological diversity along with any other human variation such as race, ethnicity, gender and sexuality. We also understand that neurodiversity is linked to both difference and disability. Our aims include supporting the priorities of and expanding the opportunities for neurodivergent students, faculty and staff through professional development and programming, research, and community engagement.
The Itinerary included:
- Welcome- Dr. Monika Williams Shealey, Senior Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
- Dr. Ali Houshmand, Rowan University President
- Dr. Tony Lowman, Provost
- John Woodruff, Director of Accessibility Services
- Terry Nguyen, Rowan University student
- Ben Wilner, Rowan Alumni & Academic Advisor at Camden County College
