For Credit Faculty Led Page

We're glad to see that you're interested in teaching your course abroad!

Below are the steps you should take in beginning this process. Please know that our deadlines have changed and all proposals are due by February 1st for any 2021 (and beyond) program.

Step 1: Do you research! Review our Faculty Led Handbook to become informed of the proposal process and the information you will need to provide to your provider in order to design your program. After reviewing the handbook please contact the providers (listed below) to begin designing your program. You can work with the providers on an itinerary, cultural activities, cost, housing etc., to ensure that the program is meeting your needs for the course. Once you have chosen your provider you will then begin the online proposal.

Our available providers are: International Studies Abroad

                                                        American Institute for Foreign Study

                                                        World Endeavors

                                                        EF College Study Tours

Step 2: Once you have an itinerary and program design set up through your provide you can start the proposal process. You will need to email the Education Abroad Advisor (kahler@rowan.edu) to be given access to the online portal where you can work on your online proposal. All requirements will be online. There are questions you will answer online as well as forms you will have to print out, complete and upload. The deadlines for ALL proposals is February 4th of the year prior to your program.

Step 3: Once your proposal is submitted, the Education Abroad Committee will meet to review it. The Education Abroad Advisor will notify you, via email, if your proposal has been approved, or if you need to resubmit it with additional information. Once approved, you will meet with the EA Advisor to review upcoming recruitment, student application deadlines and what the next steps will be as you promote your program.

Step 4: Upon approval, you will be able to promote your program and the application will be open for students to apply via Rowan and your program provider.

EDUCATION ABROAD COMMITTEE APPROVES PROPOSALS
We recently created a committee that will assist us in providing our students with high-quality, safe, affordable and academically challenging programs. The Education Abroad  Committee is comprised of faculty members from each Academic Department. The committee will meet twice per academic year to review faculty-led proposals and collaborate on initiatives to increase participation on faculty-led, exchange and regular study abroad programs. We rely on the committee members to bring the information from our meetings back to their academic departments to keep everyone abreast of important updates and programming with the International Center's Education Abroad Office.
