Information for On-Campus Supervisors*

Hiring for 2019-2020

  1. Contact us at fws@rowan.edu if you are interested in hiring FWS students for 2019-2020. We will give you access to a Google Drive hiring sheet where you will be able to submit your list of FWS students to hire electronically. We are accepting them now! 
  2. We will take a preliminary look to see initial eligibility and missing documentation. When we award final aid during the summer, we will notify you of who is eligible at that time and their award amounts along with start/end dates. This will serve as the final approval, there is no paper authorization slip going forward
  3. Supervisor will work with HR and payroll to get the student on the EPAF system and ready to work. No students will be permitted to start working before the first day of the semester without prior approval from our office.  

 Changes for 2019-2020

For the 2019/2020 year, all hiring will be done via ProfsJobs, Rowan University’s electronic job posting system. There is no plan to host the Federal Work Study Career Fair at this time. Please work with the Office of Career Advancement to post your vacancies in ProfsJobs (www.rowan.edu/profsjobs). If you already have an employer account, just log in using your Rowan email address and post your positions. We encourage you to start reviewing applications and interviewing ASAP and continue through the summer. This will allow for ample time to make well-informed hiring decisions for your department.

Keeping Track of Student Earnings

Please download and distribute this workbook to all of your FWS student workers. This workbook should be completed with the student name, award amount (default is $1,500 but there are a handful of students who have smaller award amounts) and pay rate. Each pay period, the student should enter the number of hours they worked. The sheet will calculate how much they have earned of their award and let them know how many hours/dollars they have left to earn. When this amount is exhausted it is imperative the supervisor terminates the student from FWS.
